Janet had her own accounting business that focused on serving the needs of small businesses since 1980.  She enjoyed the personal interaction with owners and employees while designing and implementing their accounting systems through preparing their taxes. Janet brings to Assurance her experience and knowledge of business and accounting and her familiarity with the emergency lighting industry after being married to Al for 50 years.

Barry Young, LC has held various sales management roles of increased responsibility with architectural lighting manufacturers for over 35 years. 

Barry covers sales management and direction for our East/North East territory. This includes Michigan, Indiana, Kentucy, to the Carolinas and north to ME. 

His professional affiliations include National Council of Qualifications for Lighting Professionals, a past President of Long Island IES Section, and a member of both the IESNA Museum Committee and Emerging Professional committees. Barry has extensive experience working with some of the most prestigious lighting designers, architects and electrical engineers in the United States. As a sales manager he supports agent partners to secure business through market penetration.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Porter Wafler, our esteemed Sales Manager at Assurance Emergency Lighting. Porter joined Assurance in 2019, bringing over 30 years of experience across diverse industries and deep expertise in engineering support, sales management, and customer service.

Porter will be remembered for his immediate responsiveness, tireless focus on customers’ needs, and the kindness that defined every interaction. He was not just a colleague but a trusted friend, always ready to offer a helping hand and an encouraging word. His dedication to service, professionalism, and generosity of spirit made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Porter’s absence will be deeply felt by all of us at Assurance Emergency Lighting and beyond. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all who enjoyed working with him.

Rest in peace, Porter. You will be greatly missed.
